Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known as Lenin, was born in 1870 and died in 1924. He is best known as one of the leading figures in the 1917 Russian revolution, and one of the founders of 20th century Russian communism. His image still represents revolution and the dignity of the worker, although reverence towards him in Russia itself has decreased since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.
