In Star Trek, The Starship Enterprise NX-01 was built at the Warp Five Complex in Bozeman,Montana. This worn-look design commemorates that fact and is the kind of thing that perhaps the Starfleet personnel involved in the design and construction of the famous starship may have been awarded by Starfleet when Enterprise was launched in 2121.
